About fifteen enthusiasts meet at 10 am. Fabian from Leica Vienna had arranged a suitcase full of bodies and lenses. Everyone finds what they want. I rediscovered my Noctilux 1.0 from 1981 a few days ago after years of it standing on the shelf. This lens with all its behaviour and roughness reflects my passion. So I am happy to catch the Noctilux 1.2 for the walk.

It was a really nice experience. The result. I will never change my 1.0 to the 1.2. There are a lot of reasons. The handling. The focus. The bokeh. The charm. All the more a great opportunity, a super test and foto walk.

Beyond that I tested the 0.95 for some time. I also like it. But it is a part of perfection. Like the other new lenses.

Making of

The making of an exhibition. Participate. In the last few weeks there were a lot of ideas, thoughts, conversations and doubts. Finally a concept and a date. Let’s go.

Background

A Point of View has been continuously created over the last ten years. Through various stays in Budapest, I have been able to get to know the city and some hidden places in many different ways.

Budapest inspires me as an observer through its specific urban culture. You never know whether a place is still there in a few month. And maybe you find a new place there or just around the corner. It never gets boring and the well-made things stay.

Budapest is an inspiring city full of contrasts. Old and new. Young and old. Conservative and progressive. This mix unfolds its own shame, archaic and modern at the same time.

Its people have a very wide range, a lot of them see the world with open eyes, representing a fast changing capital with the joy of experimentation and a diverse culture. Moreover, they always keep their roots, the Hungarianism. The language is difficult and with one word you can say a whole sentence but with some words in Hungarian you can open the heart of the citizens, too. Köszönöm szépen a sok szép pillanatot.

The moments and places of Budapest represent the past, the present and the future at the same time. You find old buildings with a lot of history, with the signs of the incidents of the past century as well as new architecture and a lot of improvisation.

Idea

Within the framework of selected photographs, the focus is sometimes on forms, sometimes on fleeting moments and sometimes on people. The classification is fluid and individual photographs can be assigned to either one or the other group of works. All together they represent my vision of photography:

• Forms, that give the observer support and anchor as well as an aesthetic hold.
• Moments, that sometimes have some humour and funny sequences, sometimes unique situations and sometimes a second scene behind the obvious.
• People, who make a scene personal and individual with their character and behaviour.

Room

We met Zsófi from Frolik Gallery a lot of years before. She is a designer, artist and a very bustling person with a lot of ideas and power. So we found together by a same view of things and decided to make this exhibition.

Now in progress

I am a person of analysis, intensely observing a scene and putting things together. But right now it is time for communication, we are designing the poster, writing the invitation and so on.

I am looking forward meeting you in Budapest.
